Vocabulary

amy

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the word 'amy?' I know that 'amie' is an word whose plural form is 'amies', but can the plural form 'amies' be used for the word 'amy' too?

Also, can anyone point out the difference between 'amy' and 'amie'?

As far as I know, neither amy nor amies is a word in standard English. Amy is, of course a name.

I know it's not a word in formal English and I'm aware about the name. Still curious to know what the meaning is in Informal english or AmE

Amie is French for "(girl)friend." Sometimes English speakers will use French because it sounds more romantic.
