The kids can ride on the amusements.

I wonder what is the American equivalent.

I would say that at a fair the kids can "go on the rides," or, if you want to be more specific, "ride the Ferris Wheel," roller coaster, merry-go-round, etc. "

I would say that at a fair the kids can "go on the rides," or, if you want to be more specific, "ride the Ferris Wheel," roller coaster, merry-go-round, etc. We do have the term "amusement park" for a (permanent) place that has these things, but we would not say "ride on the amusements."
