Amount with a plural noun

Hi. Please help. Could we use the word "amount" with a plural noun (noun in plural?) like the one below?

eg,
no amount of forests

Top answer

"Amount" is usually used with a non-countable noun. With a countable noun, the word "number" is more common. In this case it would be better to use "number" because "forests" would be considered a countable noun.
