amount vs quantity

A lady handed me a ten dollar tip. I was happy with her generosity, until she came back in and said, “I’m sorry. I gave you the wrong ( ).” I handed it back to her and then she gave me five dollars.

1 quantity 2 account 3 amount 4 quality

The answer is "3", but why not "1"?

We prefer to use quantity / number in connection with countable nouns, and amount for non-count nouns.

Money is almost always collocated with "amount."

I wouldn't use quantity with a countable noun, but a large/great quantity of snow sounds good to my ear.
