among the most

Hi

I've this question here.

Issues of price, place, promotion, and product are ___ conventional concerns in planning marketing strategies.

among the most/ among the many of

I was told to choose "among the most". I don't know why I can't say "among the many of".

Thank you!

EDITED: It's the "among the many OF" that's the problem. " Without that offending "of," it could be either, depending on what you want the sentence to mean. If there are MANY concerns and you are listing just a few as examples, then among the many.

Grammar GeekGrammatically, it could be either. It depends on what you want the sentence to mean.

I don't think I've ever heard or seen a construction like "among the many of conventional concerns".

Oh! You're right. I didn't notice that "of." To be grammatical, it would have to be "among the many conventional concerns" without the of.

Thank you for pointing that out!

Hi ahava_yin, Among may be an abundant (sorry redundant) word in the sentence. Because these four ' P.'s are not some several others in the entire list of concerns, but they are all of the list. The list consists of them. So, Price, place, promotion, and product are the conventional concerns. ......' could be an alternative, or 'Price is among the most conventional concerns in planning marke
