Essay & Composition Writing

American identity

hi everybody. I have to write an essay (750-1000 words) about the American identity and the fact that it is influenced more by unrealistic aspirations than by real possibilities. I need to write a 5-paragraph essay and therefore need 3 good arguments. we're meant to discuss it with the help of examples.

So far, I thought to discuss equality and opportunities. I wanna say that the Americans are trying their best to reach equalitiy, but as they don't acutualy reach it, it is more an unrealistic aspirations.

Furthermore, I wanna say that America is seen as the country with the most possibilities, but because not everyone can achieve these opportunities, it isn't a realistic aim either.

Now I need a third point that I can make. And I just can't think about anything else that I write so much about. Would be awesome just to get some ideas. Thanks a lot!

and have a good start in the coming week....

Sorry, Fortu, I can't help you because for most people, most of our aspirations are real possibilities. I do believe that racial equality will be attained one day. It's not unrealistic, even if it isn't the current situation.

thanks for your answer. I didn't wanna say, that it is impossible to achieve equality and all these things. I more wanted to say that the American identity is based on ideas like equality, belief in opportunities for everyone, which are at the moment not present. Hope you understand what I mean.

I have to write something to this topic. And I also thought about a lot of things that they re

Well, perhaps Americans are unfailingly optimistic then. We think we can achieve great things for ourselves and our families and our communities, even if we won't ever do so.

Do you know the expression "A man's reach should exceed his grasp?" It means you should try for more than you will realistically achileve. Perhaps that is what you mean. And yes, it's an American way of looking at t

Maybe the blindness of the population.

For example they think of themselves as spreader of democracy and freedom but in fact their government is all other than a democracy.

Or that they regard themselves as christians but they follow an unhuman, illegal government.
