Amend

Would it be correct to say 'I can't amend you, no one can' .I know the
word can be used like this : 'I must amend my essay to be sure there are no
spelling mistakes' , but I want to know if I can use the word
exactly the same way as 'change' ?..

You can;
Rehabulitate/ change people (who have certain behavioral problem and substance addictions).
Amend a document, i.e. contract, report, etc...
Correct / edit an essay, home work...
