Ame Pronunciation(QUarter to two)

Hi, dear friends

I heard American English people pronounce :It's a quarter to (the) two rather than" to two". I mean they vocalize "to "as the" Or" at least I hear like that. Right? Why?

Would someone please shed the light upon this?

Thanks in advance

No, we do not say 'the' at all. We say 'a quarter to two' just like every other native speaker.

Hi,

the vowel comes through as a "schwa" instead of a distinct "oo" sound. That is the same vowel that you would hear in "the".
Am I right?

Hi, I 'd like to know why AmE pronounce "to" as distinct oo in a quarter to 7, but not in" to two" .May be" t" is not pronounced and "o" pronounced as schwa. Right? This rule also occur in "twenty to two" Is there special philosophy?Feel free to correct my post. I appreciate that.

In the United States, there are many regional accents (just like in most every country on the globe). The way one American says "20 to 2", or "quarter to three" does not apply to all Americans. In your country, are there regional accents? Can you tell where someone is from by the way they say certain things?

By the same speaker? That doesn't seem right.
People who say a distinct 'oo' in "to" tend to say it that way in all cases.
People who say it with a schwa tend to say it that way in all cases.

Many people I know say something like this: / 'kw?
