Ambition is a strong desire for elevation, honor, power, supremacy or simply the achievement of something. As opposed to fantasizing about desires, it implies work and discipline to achieve goals.Throughout history, ambition has been a driving force both for individuals and society.

Just as light tower to the boat sailing at night, ambition leads our way to the future.It shapes what we are todady and has profound impact on what will be .What kind of ambition you have ,what kind of success you are likely to achieve. If you are ambitious in business and try your hand at it ,you will probably be a businessman ,whether successful or not. Similarly if you would like to adventure in writing, a writer or journalist may you finally become. Ambition can be risky and end in a fiasco, but only through this we find our talents and get more mature. Helen Keller,one of the most admirable female in the world ,despite of her blindness ,became a world-renowned writer and lecturer under the light of her amibiton to be a usefull person.Her autobiography ,The Story of My Life,still sows hope into the darkness of disabled people.

Ambition contribues a lot to the development of our society. First of all,it brings great achievements to companies.Consider the combination of Lenovo and IBM’s PC business which happened recently and resulted in the combined company being the No. 3 PC vendor worldwide. How can it happen without ambition? In additon,varieties of new technologies were invented by ambitious scientists which played an active role in the advancement of our economy and society. Without ambition , computer and Internet wouldn't have been invented and all the banks would have to use abacuses for accounting. A world without ambition is unimaginable.

Influential as it is , ambition should be guided by our conscience and wisdom. Otherwise,it may bring damages even disasters. How many ancient ambitious rulers have their citizens suffer from wars only to expand their territory. Driven by his crazy ambtion ,Hitler became a devil who nearly ruined the world.It was also the same ambtion lead him to his tragic doom.Therefore , a wise ambitious man choose his means to achieve what he desired carefully.

From all above we can see that ambiton benefits us enormously if it is channeled in the right direction. As a young , many dreams waited for us to realize and ambition pushes us much nearer to our goal or ideal. Everyone ,old or young ,should ambitious to shine and make our lives more beautiful and meaningful.
