ambiguity: statistics of customer sales

Hello,

If you saw the above phrase (i.e. statistics of customer sales) in isolation, would you understand it? What would its meaning be in your opinion?

In fact, what I'm asking about is the level of ambiguity as perceived by native speakers of English.

Many thanks for any comments and suggestions in advance!

Best,

P.

'Customer sales' is odd; I would think it should be 'customer purchases'.

Hello,

Thank you. 'Customer purchases' makes better sense.

I've just found another instance: 'statistics customer sales'. Originally, I amended that to 'statistics of sales to customers', but 'statistics of customer purchases' may be better too.

Thanks a lot, again!
