Ambiguity in comparison

Hi

I have a question with this sentence.

I pay you more than my sister.

This sentence was given in an exercise which required the students to check if the comparison in the sentence is correct and clear.

I think we can make it free of ambiguities in two ways.

1. I pay you more than I do my sister.

2. I pay you more than my sister does.

My question is can we consider the original sentence—I pay you more than my sister—to convey the meaning conveyed by # 2?
