Am I using the correct words?

I am not sure 'spot' or 'signal' are the correct words in this context. What would you say?

The ipad will connect to the wifi that it spots. If one you've already connected to isn't available, it'll look for the strongest signal.

Thank you in advance

"Detects" is better than "spots". "Spots" is a little puzzling. "Finds" is less techie than "detects".

I'm not a computer person and don't know if this is possible, do you?

Does this make sense and it it possible? Are they the right words?
Some internet sites are heavier than others and take up more ram/space so they are slower to open.

What do I have to say: I don't know any computer jargon or I'm not good at computer jargon.

Thank you
