Am I seeing it correctly?

Hi,

Please tell me if how I see is correct.

What is a bus?

Here it is 'a bus' and not just 'bus' because the underlined part is part of a sentence. In other words, it forms a grammatically constructed?? sentence with other sentential components; whereas, the sentence below, it has to be 'bus' and not 'a bus' because it is calling to represent itself.

I call it 'bus'.
