Am I right?

Hi

Here is a sentence: "The Church of England was recently urged in the media to adopt a more "branded" approach to the recruitment of clery."

Does it mean that the Chuch was pressed in the media to choose a branded approach for drafting new members?

Regards,

Nesa

Dear Nesa - May I assume that you meant "clergy" and not "clery"? Despite not having the slightest idea of what "a more branded approach" might mean, I can say with near certainty that the media intended to address deficiencies in the manner in which the Church currently engages its clergy (not its members). Would you have a link to the whole article using the phrase “branded approach”?

Dear John

Of course it is "clergy" not "clery", I missed "g". And there is no link because it is a text from a book, but I can type previous parts.

"The scale of adoption of branding has been breathtaking. An activity that for three-quarters of the 20th century was mainly confined to consumer goods and services now features in industrial and business-to-business sectors, the p

Dear Nesa

Thanks for taking the time to transcribe the text from your book - I have a better understanding of what you wanted to know and also a better understanding of how one could recommend "a branded approach" to recruiting clergy to the Church of England. If I have not already answered your question, please do not hesitate.

Kind regards,

Dear John

I should say that I did not understand the meaning of the last sentence. Even a paraphrasing could be helpful.

Do you understand the concept of a brand?

If so, do you see how having a strong brand identity could be helpful it recruiting people to become priests?

Maybe it's things like "We're ancient, but we're progressive. We're traditional, but we welcome new ways of doing things. We are welcoming. We have been part of England's communities for more than 500 years." Then someone will say

Dear friends

So it means in the time of brand adopting, everyone prefers having a "branded" name, even the Church is asked to have a more modern approach in recruiting of new priests. As we know this kind of approach is completley in contrast with the traditional church.

Did I get it?
