Am I reading this passage right?

"His character is one of the highest-ranking salesmen[2] at the paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin, although the series expands on his character as bed-and-breakfast proprietor at Schrute Farms, a beet plantation, and as the owner of the business park enclosing Dunder Mifflin."

What I gathered is that the person's character evolves(as the plot unfolds) from being a bed and breakfast proprietor to being the owner of a business park.

But to be honest I'm quite confused.

THANKS IN ADVANCE:)
