Am I correct?

If someone has an exam and he has to study, it is correct to say "He is studying" but it is incorrect to say "He studies", right?

You haven't really supplied enough context to determine a more appropriate verb form. These are both right: John has an exam coming up next week, so he studies every night. John has an exam coming up next week, so he is studying every night.
