Am I clear?

I would like to get my understanding checked. Here are the examples of two sentences.

Sentence 1: If it would be appropriate to meet with him, I would be honored to do it.

This sentence has following meanings:

a. This sentence doesn't tell that it's not appropriate to meet with him. That's why there is 'would' with 'if clause'.

b. This sentence tells that meeting with him is a probability.

Sentence 2: If it was appropriate to meet with him, I would be honored to do it.

This sentence has following meanings:

a. This sentence tells that it's not appropriate to meet with him. That's why 'if clause' is with past simple.

b. This sentence tells that meeting with him is not a probability.

Am I right? I just wanted to try to understand the sentences with if+would vs if+simple past. Thank you in advance.

I don't think anything of great significance should be inferred from those two sentences. The first one just sounds to me like a typical native-speaker mistake for the second one. CJ
