Am able? dropping the I letter

I read this example on Cambridge online dictionary

why is I letter not written with am?

I don't think it is okay if I wrote

she has a good memory and is able to retain facts easily.

Hi, When you join with a conjunction two main clauses that both have the same subject, it's normal to omit the second subject. eg Last night, Tom ate dinner and watched TV. It would sound odd to say eg Last night, Tom ate dinner and Tom watched TV.
