Always sticking together

And the rabbit and the porcupine became the best of friends. Always sticking together. Always sticking up for one another.
... the best friends. Always helping each other. Always standing up for each other.

Hi,

Does the second in the above correctly explain the first and sound as good? Thanks.

' The best friends ' does not work grammatically; use only ' best friends '. Always sticking together = always remaining together (not necessarily 'helping each other') And don't forget the pun on 'stick'.
