Always ( Present Tense or Past Continous ??)

She was so annoying (adjective) ! She was always leaving her dirty dishes in the sink. I think she actually expected (Past tense) me to do them for her.

or

She is so annoying! She always leave her dirty dishes in the sink. I think she actually expect me to do them for her.

Which one is correct? "always" we should use the "present tense" right?
