Always

"You can always meet me tomorrow."
I often hear such sentences with "always". But then "always" and "tomorrow" seem to contradict each other here. If one can meet the speaker always, then tomorrow is no exception. What is the meaning of "always" here ?

Top answer

In this context "always" is used with could or can to suggest another possibility. I can't come today but I could always come tomorrow.
