What's the difference between those two words alumni and graduates?
It seems that both words mean the same however it's ok to say "I'm a college graduate" but "alumni gathered for the homecoming". The other way around doesn't seem like a good idea.
Wht's the difference between in use between those two words?

A graduate has completed the necessary requirements to earn a degree, while an alumnus is any person that attended as a student whether earning a degree or not.
