"Although if"???
Please look at the following sentence.
"Momma never sent the babies out to help, although if he worked it right he could usually get May Belle to do something"
I couldn't know understand what that "although" is. Does the writer have to write " although he worked it right " or " even if he worked it right"? Is "although if " possible?
Or does "although" mean "But" or "However"?
