Alternative to on the other hand

This phrase is just ridiculously stilted. I hate using it and will never use it again if there is another alternative available. What else can I use instead?

If you're not speaking to students of English, then you're correct to find another way to express your meaning. If you're trying to teach students English, you should be aware that the language has a fondness for hands in its expressions, taking figurative meaning from the hand's position, shape, and employment. The OED lists over 60 figurative uses from cards to horseflesh.
