Alternative prepositions ( "wage war on/against'")
Greetings all,
Is there any noticeable difference between (1) "to wage war ON somebody" and (2) "to wage war AGAINST somebody". Curiously, my Longman says nothing about version 2... On the other hand, based on what I can see in the Internet, examples with (2) are nearly as frequent as (1)?
Your comments would be appreciated.
