Alternative name for the Nordic and Baltic region

Hi,

We are a group of companies and the name of each company reflects it’s geographical responsibility, for example <company name> UK or <company name> Southeastern Europe.

What would be the correct way of naming a company responsible for the Nordic and Baltic region? Is it <company name> Nordics & Baltics, <company name> Nordic & Baltics or something else? I want to avoid using the word ‘region’ as the name would be too long. My logic tells me it should be "Nordics and Baltics" but I did a search on the exact phrase on Google, and "Nordics and Baltics" got 121,000 results whereas "Nordic and Baltics" got 235,000 results. I am quite lost. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum! Scandanavia refers to the area that encompasses Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. Perhaps alternatives could be Northern Europe or Northeastern Europe.

Thanks Vorpar. Unfortunately it would not be correct to use Northern Europe or Northeastern Europe as these terms encompass other countries as well, like UK and Ireland and some Eastern European countries. I think the words Nordic and Baltic are the best to use, as others have a different meaning, but I am confused about the S'es at the end: NordicS & BalticS or Nordic & BalticS?

We don't often use 'Nordic'. If we do, 'Nordic and Baltic' would suggest that these were two different ideas, but some Nordic countries are Baltic, and some aren't. Which countries does your region cover?

fivejedjon, it is Sweden, Norway, Denmark incl. Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Well, in the countries you are talking of, the term Nordic Countries includes the Faroe Island and Iceland, but Scandinavia does not. Some countries on your list are Baltic Countries, but others are not.

I think I would use Baltic and Nordic Region , Baltic/Nordic Region or Baltic and Nordic States. If that is too long for you, then I suppose you can ge

Thanks fivejedjon. So I guess we'll go with one of the combinations of the words 'Nordic' and 'Baltic'.
