also/the same

Can I use both words in the same sentence?
What about the word ‘‘thing’’? Is it optional?

When I listen to music I always sing along.
1-My sister also does the same.
2-My sister also does the same thing
3-My sister does the same thing
4-My sister does the same

Thanks!!

khah Can I use both words in the same sentence? Yes, but it's redundant, and you don't do that if you're being careful. I would say 3.
