Also - placement

Hi!

Which is the right place of also in the following sentences?:

I also was his master’s thesis supervisor.
I was also his master’s thesis supervisor.

I know that also is an adverb and and its place is after "to be", but can it be used before to be, for example for emphasis?

So both option are possible. Thank you. I don't know why grammar books say that "also" has to be placed after "to be" .

I think that I will use "I also was his master’s thesis supervisor." ("also" before "to be") sounds to me more emphatic, I don't know...
