Also it has a Café

Could you please help me with these questions?

1) Someone wrote: "Also it has a Café". I know he should say: It also has a Café. But is the original version incorrect?? or acceptable?

2) Someone wrote: The Castle of the King and the Queen. I suggested that he should use the possessive case ´s. But is his sentence grammatically wrong?

3) Someone wrote: "I visited the Café that is in the Castle". Is IN the correct preposition to be used?

4) "I´m spending the holidays in Englland". I would say: "I am spending MY holidays in England". Is the original idiomatic?

Thank you very much.

1. If the meaning is "in addition to having some other thing, it has a café", then "It also has a café" is correct and "Also it has a café" seems inferior. If the meaning is "in addition to some other thing that I just said, it has a café", then "Also it has a café" is not unusual, certainly in conversation, and seems acceptable to me.

  • Some people might prefer a comma after "Also".
  • There is normally no reason to capitalise "café".

Thank you Mr Wordy!

As regards number 2: I was taught that adverbs should be placed before the verb to be. "It also has a xxxxx". That´s why I was not sure if the original was correct.

The person wrote a piece saying: The castle had a shop which open xxxxxxxxxxx. Also, it has a xxxxxxxx

So I assume in this case we can place the adverb at the beginning of the sentence.

Here, "Also, it has a ..." and "It also has a ..." both work. To me, the former feels slightly more informal.

I guess you could tech

Mr Wordy"It also has a café" is correct and "Also it has a café" seems inferior.

It "sounds" ok in spoken English, but in the written form it always sounds to me like the writer is saying something like,"Oh, and by the way, it has a cafe too, but I was too lazy to go back and add it to the original sentence".
