Already knew / already know

Could somebody please tell me which statement is grammatically correct?

Sarah has told me I’m talking in my sleep. I already knew I was.

Sarah has told me I’m talking in my sleep. I already know I am.

Am I right in thinking it’s the latter because the first sentence is in present perfect and “already” expresses prior knowledge whilst remaining in the present tense?

Many thanks.

Standard everyday natural English: Sarah told me I've been talking in my sleep, but I already knew that . OR Sarah told me that I talk in my sleep, but I already knew that . While your examples are a little less natural, they are both grammatically correct.
