alone adverb

Hi

Please help me with this:

She always stood alone.

Alone means she stayed aloof so I think it is an adjective.

She is standing alone.

Here alone modifies stand that is it says if she is only one or with others.

Then can it be an adverb?

Actually, alone follows a pattern of the prefix "a" plus a state-type word.

a + sleep
a + wake
a + live
a + ground
a + float
a + blaze
a + back

There are more.
