No, I haven't checked any other dictionary. I have a handheld electronic version. I think M-W is an authoritative source so there is no need to resort to some other dictionary. By the way, which dictionary do you use?

The Canadian Oxford Paperback Dictionary.

I also occasionally use my very old copy of the The Concise Oxford Dictionary.

I must admit that when I looked in that, your meaning was there. But as I said, I hadn't encountered it before.
