I've always heard 'bald pate'.

I would just call it a bald spot. A typical, inherited type where the bald spot starts at the forehead and proceeds back across the top of the head is, I think, called "male-pattern baldness."

The area all the hair seems to start growing from (like the middle of a hair whirlpool) is called the crown. It's not a bald spot though.
