Allude to and defuse

Hello there,

Please help me to understand the usage of these two words.

Allude to (V): to refer to something and somebody indirectly or briefly.

In the theater, the audience found it difficult to suppress his laughter when the announcers alluded to the actor passing gas loudly.

Defuse (V): To reduce a difficult or dangerous situation.

The meeting amongst the president and CEO was to defuse the current economic hardship.

When Black Friday shoppers started to get (or become?) unruly, the authority got involved and put the entire mall on a halt (or call a halt on the entire mall?)

THANK YOU!

Firstly, thanks for your repoinse, Akka36.

However, I didn't ask what those two words mean in these sentences. Actually, what I asked was I wanted to know if I use these two words correctly in the sentence I made up myself.

For third examples, the reason that I had parenthesis was because I was not positive how to construct the sentence correctly.
