allow for wastage

Is it what they say 'allow for wastage'?

The supermarkets allow for wastage, so if you break something they won't charge you for it.

The store allows for stolen items. They take into account stolen items. They know that items will be stolen so they buy more.

I'm trying to find examples but they might not be the best or I might not be using the correct words.

Thank you

I thought the slang phrase they use is 'allow for shrinkage'.

ie the number of items in stock shrinks for various reasons.

I wouldn't automatically associate "wastage" with theft.

Nor would I, but the OP mentions both breakage and theft.
