Allegory + for/of

Hi,

I always a little bit confuse about the right preposition for "allegory".

Are the following sentences correct?
  1. In that poem, the uncharted ocean is an allegory of the uncertain future.
  2. In that poem, the cats serve as an allegory for the lives of the common men who are constantly belittled by the haves and the elites.
Thanks in advance, AL

Thanks.

Is there any easy way to detect whether to pair "allegory" with "of" or with "for" in a sentence?
