Allege synonymous

I know the word Allege means to present a claim with out proof but can it be used merely as speak in a sentience such as this ‘’ allege your name’’

Is this word limited only to courts and lawyers?

Thanks in advance

Another situation I can recall seeing it is when I was reading my medical records, and it seems doctors write things like "Patient alleges no history of drug use" -- it made me laugh, because it sounded like the doctor thought I had done drugs but I said otherwise. Someone later told me that it's just how some doctors write it. You can use is casually too, perhaps with a bit of sarcasm.

  • For example, "Sue" is always talking about some restaurant and how much she loves it and how great it is, but you have eaten there and it's not as wonderful as she claims.
  • You may refer to it as "the allged best restaurant in town" when talking to someone who has also heard Sue go on and one about it.
