Allage

Hello,

The author allege that when children are allowed to play on their own, it leads to the development of their creativity and imagination.

I feel the second part of my sentence is wrong, Could you please fix it.

Can I use ''allege'; instead of claim'?

Children would be more imaginative and creative if parents were allowed them to play on their own.

Thank you.
