All vs everything

Hello,

Are "everything" and "all" interchangeable in these two cases? I'm having a hard time choosing between them.

1) I am having a terrible day. All / Everything is going wrong.

2) You must tell me all /everything about your holiday.

Top answer

anonymous ) I am having a terrible day. All / Everything is going wrong. 'All' is odd there; 'everything' is common and natural.

  • anonymous 2) You must tell me all /everything about your holiday.
  • Both words are common there, but 'all' is probably an adverb, not a pronoun.
