You should remember that bitter is a name for a kind of beer in British English.

This means that All the drink here is bitter in British English could easily mean that there was nothing to drink here other than bitter. The obvious alternative to 'bitter' is 'mild'. A pub which had nothing other than bitter would, therefore, have no mild.
