All of a sudden there is a sharp 'pull' down the leg

Hi

I don't how to explain this phenomena and what it is called. Perhaps, you could guess it and help me. Let's see.

Sometimes, when we are sitting (and this also happens occasionally while asleep) all of a sudden there is a sharp 'pull' down the leg and unless you stand up and walk a little this won't go away. It couldn be very painful. Perhaps it has to do something with blood circulatory system such as veins and arteries. Any guess what it's called? Thank you for any help I can get.

Regards

Jackson
