All kind of grammar doubts

Hello,

Could you help me, please?

A student wrote:

1) "In my job I cooked the food to the people there." Why does it sound bad to me?

2) "In my job I enjoyed staying in front of the sea". I would change it like this: In my job I enjoyed facing the sea. Any other alternative? idea?

Thanks!
