All contain the word "the"

Hi. Please help. Are the underlined parts with the definite articles correct? For no. 3, is it equivalent to the phrase "The unforeseen thing" (in the singular)? Thank you in advance for your help.

1. There are two sides to the issue. The one side is advocated by us and the other side is advocated by them.
2. If it happens, this will happen, and all are the happier.
3. The unforeseen has happened.

" In sentence #2, the meaning is incomplete. " Sentence #3 is fine as is. Yes, it could mean "the unforeseen thing," but more commonly "the unforeseen event" I hope this helps.

In sentence #1, I would say "One side is advocated by us..." rather than "The one side."
In sentence #2, the meaning is incomplete. I would say "all will be the happier for it."
Sentence #3 is fine as is. Yes, it could mean "the unforeseen thing," but more commonly "the unforeseen event"

I hope this helps.
