'All' after 'It'

Why is there 'all' after 'it' in these sentences?-

? This is how it all ends up.
? It all makes sense.
To my understanding, 'all' could be used as both plural & singular & that's why makes sense to have third person singular form of verb following 'all'. Isn't 'all' then redundant? Does 'all' after 'it' anyway mean 'all of it'?
