All about adjectives?

Hi. Please help.

1. Is it correct to make one word out of what otherwise should be a two word phrase? I am not sure the phrase "common sense" should be two words, but I think it is used as a single word here. Is this correct?

good-humored, commonsense advice

Would you say it is good practice (or perhaps correct?) to have two hyphenated phrases as adjectives?

good-natured, good-mannered man

2. I think the determiners like "a" and "the" are classified as adjectives (not sure, though). Is this correct?

(as part of instructions to a letter-writing activity)

Write the Chinese/Korean first and rewrite it in English.
