Hi
Can alkaloid itself be an adjective? A few dictionaries tell me so.

I am not a chemist, nor do I play one on TV, but sure: Nicotine is an alkaloid. It is an alkaloid compound.

Very few, few dictionaries refer to alkaloid as an adjective. Alkali is the proper adjective form I have heard and seen, very much as Enoon had stated before.

That's not what enoon stated. Alkalis and alkaloids are two completely different things. "Alkaline" is the adjective for "alkali". "
