Align with the divine/but instead/focused

Hi

Lighting a candle, in many cultures and for many eons, has been a symbol that's helped humans to invoke and align with the divine. Perhaps this is because a small, single point of flame has the power to start a raging inferno, but instead it is focused, serene, and contained.

1. "align with the divine" - could it mean "harmonize with God" because I know that "the Divine" can mean God, but here the word "divine" is not capitalized?

2. "but instead it is ..." - I take it to mean "but at the same time it is ..."

3. Does "focused" mean something like "concentrated"?
