Alex is ticked into reawakening/awakening a cursed emperor

In the new film, Rick and Evelyn's son, Alex, is doing research in China. Alex is tricked into reawakening a cursed emperor, along with a 10,000-man-strong army of terracotta warriors.

Hi,
I wonder why the above uses "reawakening" instead of "awakening." Doesn't "awakening" do the trick in the above? Thanks.

"Reawakening" implies that the sleep state was intended to be permanent.

A reawakening is like a rebirth - not necessarily part of a normal cycle.

To me, the addition of "re-" makes it clear that his former life has been restarted (rather than him awakening to a new life).

Clarification: By this I mean that his former life is brought more vividly to bear, and the suggestion that he still has the same characteristics as he did in that former life is stronger.
