Does the word "aide" occasionally mean "aid"? When I looked up the word "aide" in some dictionaries, most of them say it means "a person whose job is to help someone important, such as a member of a government or a military officer of high rank."
However, one dictionary says aide occasionally means "help or supposrt, aid." (Unfortunately it doesn't have any example sentences.) As I have never read "aide" was used to mean "help," I'd like to know if I can trust the definition in the dictionary.
Many thanks for your help in advance.

Not according to my dictionary, Candy. It would be possible only as a short form of 'aide-memoire'. I wouldn't risk it, since there is no need to.
