agreement of nouns:singular or plural

Which sentence makes sense or is there any difference in meaning among these sentences?

1. She wiped a tear from her eye.
2. She wiped tears from her eye.
3. She wiped a tear from her eyes.
4. She wiped tears from her eyes.

I know 1. is right and makes sense but I suppose 4 is also right.
3 would be wrong because only one tear from two eyes is nonsense.Am I right?
2 shows "She" is crying seriously whereas 1 indicates "She" is crying lightly. but I'm not sure.

Could you be kind enough to tell the differences?
